4 of the Best Video Games of 2015

By Jorge Suarez on November 27, 2015

The video game industry has seen extraordinary improvements this year. Many argue that the line up of games has been one of the best thanks to the new generation of consoles now being fully established. This year has given players a terrific variety of games, from action-packed adventures, to sprawling fantasy RPGs and some exceptional examples of interactive storytelling. Here are 4 of the best games that have blown away gamers in 2015.

  1. Bloodborne
Bloodborne is a fantastic, exciting, and powerful journey that takes players through a gorgeous landscape filled with horrifying and dangerous creatures. You follow the hunter, a character that the player creates, as he explores the Gothic city of Yharnam. As the story unfolds, the Hunter begins to unravel Yharnam’s intriguing mysteries while hunting down horrifying beasts that haunt the city. The game has been applauded for its eerie atmosphere, great attention to detail, fast-paced gameplay, and brutal difficulty. For me, this was the toughest and hardest game of the year. The game can be extremely frustrating at times and none of the enemies you will face should be taken lightly. However, the rewards you get from completing these challenging tasks make up for the games harsh difficulty. Bloodborne can be seen as both a game and an experience that will follow you long after you overcome it’s brutal and horrifying world.
  2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Probably the largest game of this year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most ambitious games of 2015. In this game, players take control of Geralt of Rivia as he searches for his long-lost lover Yennefer, and Ciri, his surrogate daughter. As players progress through this fantastic story, they can also choose to explore The Witchers 3’s massive open world freely. The in-game map is filled with different side-quest and activities that can keep the player entertained for +100 hours. With its fantastic story and sprawling open world environment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a game that guarantees to bring a fantastic experience to fantasy lovers.
  3. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
The Phantom Pain is, in my opinion, the best game of this year. Not only does it have a strong narrative that shows the last unknown chapter of the Metal Gear series, but it also brings the best gameplay in the entire series.  Set in 1984, the game follows the mercenary leader, Punished “Venom” Snake, as he ventures into Afghanistan and the Angola-Zaire border region to exact revenge on the people who destroyed his forces and attempted to kill him. What makes The Phantom Pain such a great experience is how the game allows the player to approach any objective the way they would like. There are almost no “scripted” scenes and the player has to use the resources given to them and experiment if they want to succeed. What results is a rewarding experience that takes the best aspects of a great series and creates a series’ best installment.
  4. Fallout 4
War, war never changes. That is the tagline for Fallout 4, one of the most anticipated games of this year. Fallout 4 is another humongous and ambitious game released this year that promises to give the player hours of entertainment. The game is set in post-apocalyptic Boston, years after a devastating nuclear war, in which the player emerges from an underground bunker known as a Vault and tries to survive in this harsh new world. It encompasses the beauty of its brethren, while introducing a bigger, better world for gamers to explore and reside in. The characters are strong, the gameplay is fluent, and the opportunities are endless. With its well-received release and long hours of entertainment, Fallout 4 is probably one of the best open world games ever made.
